BECCA SITZES
Becca Sitzes is an Alberta-born and raised writer who has made a home in a small city in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
A former reporter, she has nearly seven years experience writing about local government, education, business, and her own particular favorite – features. Over the span of her reporting career she has won three North Carolina Press Association awards for breaking news and feature writing.
She has a passion for telling stories that highlight the triumphs and challenges we all face and the tenacity of the human spirit. Revealing injustice and finding ways to use words to right wrongs and inspire change is one of her primary goals.
Currently, she is working as a freelance writer and hopes to someday see her name in prestigious publications. In the meantime, her work has been featured in Our State Magazine, Her View From Home, USA Today and others.
She is also very slowly working on her first book, a memoir, braiding her family’s history and her own journey through grief following her husband’s unexpected death at 41.
When not writing on her laptop or in her head, Becca can be found spending as much time with her teenage daughter as her daughter will allow, walking dogs, disappearing in nature or drinking coffee.
In addition to writing personal essays and news stories, Becca is available to help craft press releases or assist with writing your own story.
